short and sweet

The daily challenges of being a recently divorced single working mom to a 7 and 4 year old, dieting/excercise struggles, my obsession with the Oakland Athletics, my cheeeeeeseburger addiction and anything else that comes with being a woman these days!

6 month weigh in

I got back from the gym this lovely Saturday morning (as I do every Saturday morning!) and realized I didn't do my 6 month progress tracking. So here goes! I started my diet on Jan 3, 2005 (so it'll be 7 months on Wed). And I'm 5' 2.5" and pretty small framed.

On Jan 3, 2005, I :
~weighed 145 lbs
~had 36% bodyfat
~measured 246 inches all around (in various places)
~wore size 13 clothing
~ate nothing but white carbs and junk food (not sweet stuff... I don't really care for cookies, candies, etc.)
~did not "formally" excercise at all. (chased the kids and did housework, etc.)

Today, on July 30, 2005, I:
~weigh 123 lbs
~have 28% body fat
~measure 218 inches
~wear size 4 clothing (sometimes a 6 in certain pants, since I still have a fat ass for my frame...)
~eat lean protein, whole grains, fruits and veggies, eliminated sugar (well, maybe 95% of sugar)
~work out about 5-6 days a week, minimum of 3 days a week - cardio and weight lifting

Total loss:
~28 inches (although I gained about 2 inches on my thighs and arms... those squats and lunges really worked. I'm positive I can crush a guy's skull with my thighs now... )
~8% bodyfat
~22 lbs
~9 dress sizes

WHEW! I'm exhausted! I've really come a loooooong way... I think I'll celebrate and treat myself to a cheeseburger... :)

Mini Updates

I've been lucky with posting at work this week since the management team was gone. Well, they're coming back on Monday, and we all know what happens when 40 managers and their assistants come back after being absent for an entire week! Ugh! But here are some updates:

~Got approved for the entire amount I requested for the mortgage loan. Score! I thought it would only be a quarter of my requested amount (single income, no job history for the last 2 years, etc.), but I guess really good credit goes a long way...

~Will put up our house for sale next week. Open house will be next weekend. So we have to have EVERYTHING ready by Sat, the 6th of Aug. so that we can have the open house that Sunday. (Everything seems to be moving so fast!)

~Get to go house shopping during the last 2 weeks of Aug! It's so exciting, but at the same time, house shopping can really be a bitch when you get burned out but still have to do it.

~Got my bike seat shaved down (I didn't even get on it AT ALL after my domestic dispute with my boyfriend) and my sliders are coming in on Wednesday. I'm going to try to install them myself before whining for someone else to do it. I wanted to take him out for a ride this weekend but I can't on Sat because I'll be in San Jose all day and trying to help with minor house repairs on Sunday... besides, I REALLY think I should wait until my sliders come in. :)

~I've been so busy that I haven't cooked dinner in about 2 weeks! Eek!!! And if any of you know me, you know I have a major weakness for cheeseburgers... This week alone, I had..... count 'em..... 3 friggin cheeseburgers! God, no wonder my 6 pack isn't coming along as fast as I want... ugh... I can't believe I had 3 cheeseburgers in ONE WEEK! Shoot me. I'm REALLY surprised I didn't gain any weight. Whew!

~I'm thinking of getting a personalized plate for my bike... it can only go up to 5 letters. What should I get? Any suggestions? And Grace, don't say "Grace"... Larry, don't say "Larry".... Julia, don't say "Julia"... ha ha ha. :) :) :)

So I'll pop in next week, hopefully with good news still. Everyone cross your fingers for me. It seems as though things are finally falling into place...

Half Nekkid Thursday

I'm in the process of downsizing from a keg to a six pack. This pic is kinda fuzzy, but if you get out your magnifying glass and look VERY carefully (even squinting your eyes will work... hehehe), you might see a little bit of ab defining taking place here, even on my obliques! I wonder what it will look like in 3 more months.

I know, I know... KMII's HNT pic last Thursday puts me to shame... but we all have to start somewhere, right?

Grace's questions

Ok, I've got a ton of time to blog. All of the senior management teams are gone this entire week. Our admin team (usually about 100 people) has dwindled down to about 10 this week. Yay!

Grace, my brain's fried now. You made me think too much....

1. what's your favorite word ever?
Vulva! I don't know... I don't have a favorite word. They're all favorites. I talk too damn much.

2. why do you love baseball so much?
It's the first sport I learned to watch. It's fun. It's not just about "is he going to hit it? is he going to strike out?" All their moves are calculated and done precisely for a reason, not just because they feel like it. It's interesting to learn about defensive/pitching strategy. Plus, it brings all of my family and friends closer together. We see more of them during baseball season than we do all year.

3. what's it like to be a MILF? :P
I wouldn't know.... That would mean that someone would actually be willing to MILF me. Any takers? Anyone?

4. how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
Wouldn't know the answer to that one, either, seeing as how I suck my tootsie pop all the way down to the center. And that there only takes me about 6 seconds.

5. what's the proudest moment in your life? (besides the kids...)
Man, it's always about the kids... but non-kid, I don't know. There are a lot. Maybe buying our first home at age 20? There's something reassuring about your future when you get your house keys handed to you at that age. Or being appointed a seat on my agency's Board of Directors at age 24 (almost 25), making me the youngest director for any program in my county. Shit, mine are so boring! Are you sure you don't want to hear about my kids? At age 4, my daughter started reading, playing golf, playing chess, and won 3rd place in a pageant.... ok, ok, I'll stop..

owie!

geez, i'm such a fucktard. was trying to determine how much lower i needed my bike (hate being so short). shouldn't wear flip flops around my bike. lost my footing and tipped it over. luckily i broke the fall so that my man bitch wouldn't get knocked over, but busted up my knuckles in the process. now i'm in a splint for about 3 weeks. my right hand and i'm right handed. can't really type, can't write, can't wipe my ass! :P it took me 10 minutes to type all this! normally would take 1 minute :(

what i've learned from this:

~shave my seat down before i attempt to get on it again
~remove my fairings (install frame sliders when i put them back on)
~work on my upper body strength to pick up my 400 lb bike
~don't ride alone
~and never ever wear flip flops when i touch my man bitch!

shit, and i can't even lift weights anymore... argh!

on my way to the hospital. what a lovely knot, huh? looks like golf ball got stuck in there

I think I'm in love.... I'm just so happy, I can't help but smile whenever I think about him! He's got all the qualities I've been looking for. He's pretty young, got a SMOKIN body, and boy, does he feel unbelievably good between my legs when I straddle him.... He's soooooo HOT!!!

kids say the darndest things part II

I'm going out tonight and the only thing my 6 year old daughter said about it was, "Cool, mom. When you leave, we can party up!" (HUH?) It was funny as shit to hear that from a six year old child, but... what the hell are they teaching them at school?!

you know its a bad friday when

you finally get to eat your lunch at your desk at three o' fucking clock!!!

Mommy and Kaleb's bonding time at the ballgame

what a goofball!

he's so cool..... :)

Kaleb's Pic

I threw this in because Kaleb (my 3 year old) took this. Can you believe it? It's not even blurry and its somewhat centered! You can see his reflection in my sunglasses, taking the pic! Standard mom comment.... "My child is artistically gifted...." hehe.

Blog Vacation

Well, along with LE, I'm going to be off the blogs for awhile... I'm having issues... I'm swamped at work, I've got tons of volunteer work going on this week/weekend, Jade is on her last week of school on Monday, we have to get all the court stuff/property taken care of, I'm continuing my quest for a permanent job, and next week we're going to get the ball rolling on selling our house. Then I'll have to start the process of applying for a loan and buying a home all by myself as a single mom (scary thought!). I'm anticipating the kids and I will move into our new home by the end of September, which would be a good birthday present for me. Hopefully I'll be back by mid August. So ta ta for now!

Half Nekkid Thursday

Baby feet are the best! Just all chubby and soft... I wish I can nibble on them again like I did when he was an itty bitty baby, but these days, who knows what that boy has walked through, barefoot. And not to mention stinky sweat. But still so cute to look at!

Half Nekkid Thursday

Well, I forgot all about taking a pic of myself on the 4th, but I hope the stickers work! (I had to jack them from my daughter's reading chart)

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you all stuffed your faces and drank til you puked! I celebrated yesterday with my cousins (in-laws) and went to my parents house today for some yummy BBQ. And later tonight, we're going to watch the fireworks that the city is putting on near the park. Ok....I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a good fireworks show. It's just so.... hypnotic...*all the sparkly lights are so purty*...Too bad its just the kids and me. If I had another adult with me to drive, I could enjoy the show while sipping on some champagne.

I've been so cranky lately. I don't know if its the cheat foods and my body isn't agreeing with it, or because I've been irritated for the last few days because of a certain issue I'm dealing with, or if I'm PMSing, or if the heat is getting to me. (Today is 100 degrees). If it's a combination of all of them, I might as well hide under the covers for the rest of the week...

I'm not too big on shopping, but I wanted to take advantage of the sales the department stores were having. Of course when I get there, what I want has been cleaned out of my size...But Macy's and Victoria's secret were well stocked, so I bought a few things. (No, nothing fancy, just a few new bras, since my weight loss made my boobs SHRINK!)...At least I didn't go home empty handed after driving all that way to get there. And the girl at the candy shop complimented my eyebrows. :)

So now the kids are swimming, until it's time to leave for the show...let's just hope I don't melt in this heat...
